Student Support Assistant

Lorenzo ISD is seeking a dedicated and student-focused individual to serve as a Student Support Assistant and Behavioral Support. This position supports students with behavioral and disciplinary needs in both short-term (ISS) and alternative education (DAEP) placements. The aide works closely with administrators, teachers, and support staff to provide supervision, promote positive behavior strategies, and maintain a structured, respectful learning environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide supervision and academic support to students assigned to ISS or DAEP

• Reinforce behavioral expectations using consistent and restorative practices

• Monitor student behavior and de-escalate disruptive or unsafe situations appropriately

• Collaborate with teachers to provide access to instructional materials and assignments

• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, behavior, and progress

• Support the implementation of individualized behavior plans as needed

• Assist in crisis intervention and provide support to students transitioning back to the classroom

• Uphold confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED (required)

• Valid Texas Educational Aide Certification or ability to obtain (required)

• Prior experience working with students, especially in a behavioral or alternative setting (preferred)

• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or de-escalation training (preferred or willingness to complete)

• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

• Ability to maintain composure and respond calmly in high-stress situations
