Position Overview
All Saints Episcopal School in Lubbock, Texas, is seeking a passionate and experienced Band Director to lead the lower school, middle school and high school band programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music education, the ability to inspire students, and a commitment to fostering a love for instrumental music. This role requires excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills to develop a comprehensive and engaging band program.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and direct the middle school and high school band programs, including concert band,field band and other instrumental ensembles.
- Plan and lead rehearsals, performances, and competitions throughout the academic year.
- Foster a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages student growth and musical excellence.
- Select appropriate repertoire that challenges and inspires students while meeting educational objectives.
- Teach instrumental techniques, music theory, and ensemble performance skills.
- Coordinate and participate in school events, concerts, pep band performances, and other extracurricular activities.
- Collaborate with faculty, administration, and parents to support students and promote the music program.
- Manage the band budget, purchase music and instruments, and maintain school-owned equipment.
- Prepare students for auditions, contests, and honor band opportunities at the district, regional, and state levels.
- Uphold the values and mission of All Saints Episcopal School through leadership and mentorship.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid Texas teaching certification in Music (or ability to obtain certification).
- Experience directing middle school and/or high school band programs.
- Strong knowledge of instrumental pedagogy, conducting, and music theory.
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students of all skill levels.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents, and faculty.
- Experience with TAPPS, UIL, or equivalent competitions and other band performance assessments is preferred.
- Proficiency in managing and maintaining band equipment and inventory.
