Position Overview:

All Saints Episcopal School in Lubbock, Texas, is seeking a passionate and dedicated AP/Pre-AP Upper School English Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in teaching high school English Language Arts, with a focus on AP and Pre-AP curriculum. This role requires an individual who is enthusiastic about fostering a love of literature and writing, and who can engage students in critical thinking, analysis, and effective communication.

The AP/Pre-AP Upper School English Teacher will be responsible for creating a dynamic and challenging learning environment that encourages intellectual growth and academic excellence. The successful candidate will implement innovative teaching strategies, provide constructive feedback, and inspire students to develop their writing and analytical skills. Strong classroom management, effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues, and the ability to collaborate within a team are essential for this role. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a rigorous and engaging AP English curriculum for upper school students, focusing on literature analysis, writing skills, and critical thinking.
  • Plan and facilitate thought-provoking discussions, literary analyses, and writing exercises that help students deepen their understanding of classic and contemporary texts.
  • Create an inclusive, positive classroom environment that fosters intellectual curiosity, active participation, and a passion for reading and writing.
  • Regularly assess and track student progress, providing timely feedback and individualized support to enhance students’ analytical, writing, and communication skills.
  • Prepare students for AP English Language and Literature exams, ensuring they are well-equipped for success on the AP exam and college-level coursework.
  • Incorporate technology, digital tools, and innovative teaching methods to enhance students’ learning experience and the real-world application of literary studies.
  • Collaborate with fellow faculty members, school administration, and parents to support the academic and personal growth of students.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, school-wide events, and professional development opportunities to continue refining teaching practices and staying current in the field of English education.
  • Embody the values and mission of All Saints Episcopal School by serving as a mentor, role model, and passionate advocate for lifelong learning and literary exploration.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English or Education (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Valid Texas teaching certification in ELA (or ability to obtain certification).
  • Experience teaching AP or Pre-AP English.
  • Strong understanding of ELAR and AP curriculum design, instructional strategies, and assessment techniques.
  • Ability to create an engaging and organized classroom environment that motivates students to explore and excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, and parents.
  • Experience with inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, and technology integration in the classroom is a plus.
  • Knowledge of state ELA and College Board standards and the ability to prepare students for assessments is beneficial.
