Description

Lorenzo ISD is seeking a collaborative and student-centered leader to serve as Director of Student Support and Engagement, or Assistant Director depending on experience. This role provides leadership in creating and sustaining systems that support positive student behavior, social-emotional development, and meaningful student engagement opportunities across the district. The Director fosters a safe, inclusive, and empowering school culture by guiding behavior expectations, promoting student accountability, and supporting the emotional and leadership growth of all students.

Key Responsibilities

Guiding Behavior Expectations

  • Lead the development and consistent implementation of district-wide behavior expectations that are positive, proactive, and age-appropriate.

  • Model and promote restorative practices and preventive behavioral supports.

  • Provide professional development and coaching to campus staff on equitable and effective classroom management.

  • Collaborate with principals and teachers to ensure alignment with the district’s vision for student behavior and discipline.

Promoting Student Accountability

  • Oversee behavior intervention systems that focus on reflection, restoration, and personal growth rather than punishment.

  • Facilitate restorative conversations, behavior conferences, and re-entry processes following disciplinary incidents.

  • Collaborate with students, families, and staff to design individualized behavior plans and wraparound supports.

  • Use discipline and attendance data to identify trends and implement tiered interventions.

Supporting Social-Emotional Growth

  • Champion integration of social-emotional learning (SEL) into daily routines, instruction, and schoolwide initiatives.

  • Work closely with counselors, teachers, and administrators to provide tiered supports for students with emotional or behavioral needs.

  • Promote initiatives that build emotional intelligence, empathy, and resilience among students.

  • Coordinate mentoring and student check-in systems to support relationship-building and well-being.

Overseeing Student Engagement Initiatives

  • Design and support PK–12 student engagement opportunities including leadership programs, student organizations, extracurricular activities, and schoolwide events.

  • Ensure all engagement opportunities are inclusive, developmentally appropriate, and aligned to Lorenzo ISD’s mission to prepare students for success in college, career, and life.

  • Facilitate structures for student voice and participation in school decision-making.

  • Collaborate with campus staff and community partners to strengthen student belonging and campus culture.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Educational Leadership, or related field

  • Texas Principal Certification preferred

  • Minimum 3–5 years of successful leadership experience at the campus or district level

  • Strong knowledge of behavior systems, restorative practices, SEL, and student development

  • Demonstrated ability to lead professional development and build strong staff relationships

  • Excellent communication, organization, and data analysis skills

  • Commitment to equity, student voice, and positive youth development


Additional Information

  • Position may be filled as Director or Assistant Director based on experience.

  • Working on both an elementary and secondary campus is required.

  • Work calendar and compensation will align with district leadership scale.
