Primary Purpose:

Provide ECHS students with a high-quality instructional program in a collegiate environment where every ECHS student recognizes their limit-less potential and acquires the tools needed to prepare for college. Establish a culture of high expectations that include the shared belief that every ECHS student will attend college. Uphold the Plainview ISD mission, core beliefs, and commitments. Provide appropriate in-person and/or virtual instruction, learning activities, and experiences in the academic subject area assigned to help ECHS students fulfill their limit-less potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Teach ECHS students to be productive and responsible citizens. Enable ECHS students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in a college environment.

The ECHS teacher will plan and implement an instructional program supporting cohorted ECHS students and provide related educational services for ECHS students. The ECHS teacher will manage ECHS student behavior, assess ECHS student achievement, and modify instructional activities as required to prepare ECHS students for collegiate success.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree from accredited university, Master’s degree preferred Valid Texas Teaching Certification with required supplemental endorsements as required for employment through contract as provided by Texas Education Code Chapter 21, Subchapter E, or related training and work experience for a certification waiver under the District of Innovation (DOI) plan. Demonstrated competency in the academic subject area assigned [Physical Education Teachers: Current automated external defibrillator (AED) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate]

Demonstrated knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of instructional specialty(ies) to which assigned

Experience: Successful completion of student teaching assignment or approved internship

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Strategies

1. Develop and implement lesson plans for in-person and/or virtual learning that fulfill the requirements of district’s ECHS curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect modifications and accommodations for differences in individual ECHS student learning styles.

2. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of the ECHS students’ assigned, and present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.

3. Conduct assessments of ECHS students’ learning styles and use data to plan and design instructional activities.

4. Prepare ECHS students for the Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA).

5. Manage allotted learning time to maximize ECHS student achievement.

6. Coordinate, plan, create, and implement instructional and assessment activities with other professional staff, both public school, university, and non-school based professionals, as required, maximizing learning opportunities for ECHS students.

7. Meet the demands of language acquisition of the ECHS student while ensuring the ECHS student is simultaneously learning advanced academic content. Integrate language acquisition strategies with the academic content ensuring learning is accessible and attainable to the ECHS student.

8. Work cooperatively with special populations staff to modify curricula as needed for ECHS students belonging to special population groups according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP) and other education plans in place to address individualized ECHS student need.

9. Work with other members of the professional staff (both public school and university) to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods of instruction according to ECHS requirements. Request assistance of and work with various resource personnel, as needed.

10. Plan and assign work to instructional aide(s)/assistant(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee completion. Growth and Development

11. Provide timely feedback to ECHS students and track progress through a variety of methods.

12. Provide intervention and support for cohorted ECHS students ensuring their success and progression through the program.

13. Conduct ongoing assessment and feedback related to ECHS student achievement through formal and informal methods. Assess ECHS student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives, and outcomes.

14. Maintain appropriate assessment and evaluation documentation for institutional and individual reporting purposes.

15. Design instructional activities by using data from assessments

16. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.

17. Be a positive role model for ECHS students and support the goals of the PCHS and school district.
