Summary
Assists teachers with curriculum planning, supervision, and teaching of children or adults in a classroom setting; assists in presenting and reinforcing learning concepts.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide any information requested by the teacher or administrator for the development of the IEP.
Assist in the preparation of teacher-designed materials that are required in the lesson plan (i.e. prepare centers for the classroom, etc.).
Implement the supports directed by the teacher during the direct teach portion of the lesson.*
Assist individual students, as directed by the teacher.*
Work with small groups for re-teach, as directed by the Re-teach as teacher.*
Pull individual students out of the general education classroom only if required by IEP.*
Assist in grading objective assignments or tests (i.e. multiple-choice, fill in the blank, etc.).
Assist in the collection of data on student mastery of material using criteria developed by special educator.
Assist the teacher in the implementation of the classroom management system, including established classroom routines, as directed by the teacher.
Assist in the collection of data on the student’s mastery of behavior goals and/or objectives using criteria developed by the special educator. *
Supervise hallways, play areas, cafeteria, etc. as directed by the administration.
Minimum Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that is above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
