Position Overview:

All Saints Episcopal School in Lubbock, Texas, is seeking a passionate and dedicated AP/Pre-AP Upper School Chemistry Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching high school chemistry, with experience in AP and Pre-AP curriculum. This role requires an educator who is enthusiastic about fostering scientific inquiry, problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of chemistry concepts.

The AP/Pre-AP Chemistry Teacher will be responsible for creating a dynamic and challenging learning environment that promotes critical thinking and a strong foundation in chemistry. The successful candidate will implement hands-on laboratory experiments, innovative teaching strategies, and real-world applications to inspire students. Strong classroom management skills, effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues, and the ability to collaborate within a team are essential for this role. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a rigorous and engaging AP Chemistry curriculum for upper school students, focusing on chemical principles, laboratory skills, and problem-solving strategies.
  • Plan and facilitate interactive and inquiry-based lessons that deepen students’ understanding of general, organic, and analytical chemistry concepts.
  • Design and supervise laboratory experiments that align with AP Chemistry standards, ensuring students gain hands-on experience in scientific methods, data analysis, and lab safety.
  • Regularly assess and track student progress, providing timely feedback and individualized support to enhance their analytical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Prepare students for the AP Chemistry exam, ensuring they are well-equipped for success on the AP test and future college-level science courses.
  • Incorporate technology, digital tools, and innovative teaching methods to enhance students’ learning experience and the real-world application of chemistry.
  • Collaborate with fellow faculty members, school administration, and parents to support the academic and personal growth of students.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, school-wide events, and professional development opportunities to continue refining teaching practices and staying current in the field of chemistry education.
  • Embody the values and mission of All Saints Episcopal School by serving as a mentor, role model, and passionate advocate for scientific exploration and lifelong learning.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Science Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Valid Texas teaching certification in Science or Chemistry (or ability to obtain certification).
  • Experience teaching AP or Pre-AP Chemistry.
  • Strong understanding of AP Chemistry curriculum design, instructional strategies, and assessment techniques.
  • Ability to create an engaging and organized classroom environment that motivates students to explore and excel in chemistry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, and parents.
  • Experience with inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, and technology integration in the classroom is a plus.
  • Knowledge of state science standards and College Board requirements for AP Chemistry is beneficial.
