Levelland ISD is looking for an innovative Information Technology Specialist that is committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity for a college preparatory education.  Join our dedicated team.

ROLE OVERVIEW:
 
This position assists school staff and students in maintaining and using technology to meet Levelland ISD objectives. Individual may be assigned areas of primary responsibility, but each specialist must be able to provide support services for most or all Levelland ISD technology.
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
 
Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks.  Other duties may be assigned.
 

  1. Follows and maintains knowledge of all Levelland ISD policies and procedures.
  2. Troubleshoots software and hardware issues over the telephone and in person for students and staff.
  3. Respond to all Help Desk tickets in a timely manner.
  4. Set-up, configure and install new computers including traveling to various Levelland ISD sites and transporting equipment.
  5. Maintains network security to protect against viruses, hackers and other damages. Maintain confidentiality and integrity of electronic records.
  6. Install and troubleshoot other technology (projectors, document cameras, Smartboards, etc.).
  7. Serve as resource to staff in answering questions and assisting in effective utilization of technology.
  8. Research solutions to technology problems.
  9. Assist in maintaining local area network (LAN).
  10. Assist in maintaining website.
  11. Support parents, students, and staff with Skyward Student Management System.
  12. Export student records from Skywards Student Management System in specific formats needed for importing into other student educational software.
  13. Provide onsite services to set-up computer and provide basic computer orientation.
  14. Provide user training on a variety of technology issues.
  15. Assists in the planning, development, maintenance, and operation of computers, and related hardware and software.
  16. Purchase and acquisition of new technology and equipment.
  17. Maintain inventory of District technology and equipment.
  18. Works collaboratively with school administrators, as well as other technology specialists, to provide reliable service to the District.
  19. Maintains records on the configuration, installation, warranty, licenses, and allocation of computer software, hardware, and/or network systems.
  20. Assist in training staff and students in the appropriate and effective use of computer systems and software.
  21. Assists, and when possible provides training for staff.
  22. Installs, maintains and repairs network equipment and software.
  23. Assist in the preparation of technology grant applications.
  24. Professionally represent Levelland ISD in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
  25. Comply with applicable state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations.
  26. Attend work regularly.
  27. Perform work beyond a standard 37.5-hour work week when work-load requires.
  28. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

 
All school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Education and Knowledge:

  • Bachelor degree or two-year certificate from college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education experience.
  • Prior experience working in help desk, network set-up and troubleshooting strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Skyward Student Management System strongly preferred.

  • Must have demonstrated computer competency in wide spectrum of functions. Certain individuals specialize, but everyone needs to have the ability to provide support for database software, email, Internet software inventory, order processing, spreadsheets, word processing technology programs including: Access, Outlook, Firefox, Tech Inventory, MS Office Suite, and a variety of educational software. Demonstrated ability to learn and apply computer technology skills rapidly
  • Ability to support students, parents, and staff with Skyward Student Management System
  • Ability to export student records from Skywards Student Management System in specific formats needed for importing into other student educational software.
  • Ability to work as a team or individually when required

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; sit; use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
     
  • The work environment is a standard office and classroom setting combined with a server room. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate and occasionally high.
